xup was founded in 2016 in Germany. We carry out our design work in Berlin and Hangzhou.

Our crew is consisted of architects, engineers and landscape designers, who were all educated abroad and had international working experience. We also undertake architectural, landscape and interior design projects in China, cooperating with Chinese partners to complete the official approval process and construction plans. We provide all aspects of service from schematic design to site controlling.

We concentrate on architectural design, enlarging our service scope to urban planning, landscape design and interior design. Our projects cover commercial buildings, cultural venues, landscape planning, extension and reconstruction. Besides, we have the ambition to promote architectural exchange between Germany and China.

Founding Partner/Design Director

Mr.Xu Shan, graduated from Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg（Dipl.-Ing. Architect）, membership of Architektenkammer Berlin: 13506, worked as chief architect in gmp Architekten von Gerkan, Marg und Partner Berlin and Prof. Bernhard Winking Architekten BDA office, took part in projects like Archives in Brandenburg, Germany, Tianjin Grand Theater and China Arts & Crafts Museum as project leader.

Dr.Zhang Jia, graduated from Zhejiang University (MLA and PhD). Now he is an associate professor and MA student adviser in Zhejiang University. He worked as research associate in ACHRC of CUHK. His research area is urban renewal and parametric design technology.
