This service station is located in the planned Daihe Civic Park, which is an urban green landscape band unfolding along Daihe River, occupying ca. 112 hectares. The whole park has a basic tone of natural landscape with allocations of small facilities for resting. The starting point of the design was integration of the natural and the man-made.
The service station of 460m² is located in ecodistrict of the park in North. The ecodistrict pays much attention to environmental protection and the service station is the only building providing catering and recreational functions within the park. It consists of a cha chaan teng (tea restaurant), an outdoor dining area and a waterfront terrace as well as WCs. In South there is a quiet water surface while in North lush vegetation covers the ground. In order to take full advantage of the waterfront landscape, the whole building extends along the water bank. Instead of hiding the buildings, the ambition was to create a pleasant space made both by the natural environment and a placid architecture which meets entirely its functional requirements.
