The incubation area located in Longquan Celadon Industrial Park houses the production and operation of start-up celadon enterprises and small celadon workshops, who were scattered in the suburbs of Longquan residing in peasants' self-built houses. The local government hopes to gather them into this incubation area, empower them through services and management, and help them grow.
The architects wish to create a space that largely preserves the working habit and operating environment of the residence. According to the survey, depending on the operational structure of each company, though the size requirement would slightly differ, in essence, each workshop is an independent unit composed of workshop floor(s), meeting and exhibition floor(s) and temporary residential floor(s).
Our scheme attempts to use a modular design approach. By combining and splicing a basic module to meet the various size and functionality requirements from different owners. At the same time, creating an unique architectural scale and characteristic by combining and interlinking modules, which by itself is single-purposed and lacks individuality, to reflect the intermingled multiple internal functions.
In addition, the scheme defines and designs the public space, semi-public space and private space in detail, preserving ecological environment of their original workshop, so as to enhance the interaction between various workshop units, as well as the people's communication and finally form a small vibrant community with multiple functions such as production, sales, exhibition and so on.
