Ningbo Green Group Environmental Governance Co., Ltd. or “Lvbang” is a service provider dedicated to providing professional solutions for waste classification and recycling. Following the “reduce - reuse - recycle” principle in waste treatment technology, Lvbang has carried out practice in the Ninghai project and achieved great results. In order to present its ideas and achievements to the public and gain more public support, Lvbang hopes to rebuild two garbage stations. These stations will be open for public tours whilst being in full operation. These include Xiangshan Station, which mainly process recyclable waste, and Xiangshi Station, which mainly process organic waste.

The reconstruction design of Xiangshan Station involves three main aspects: transforming the original garbage pressing and packing workshop into a three-dimensional sorting workshop and adding a recycling garbage storage and transportation area; making full use of the “waste water - reclaimed water - purified water” circulation system to create a waterscape system; adding a sightseeing footpath to the existing building which enables the public to see the whole garbage treatment process transparently without interfering with the regular operation.

The reconstruction design of Xiangshi Station also involves three aspects: disposition of organic waste through composting; showcase the integration of the wastewater purification process with the landscape design; direct application of compost to the cultivation of agricultural products.

These two reconstructed stations will act as an effective channel for communication to the local people; change the messy and filthy stereotypical impression on garbage stations; highlight the connections between waste treatment and environmental protection. In this sense, these two designs serve as public education on waste treatment by inviting the public to participate in a much misunderstood process that was behind closed doors.
