The project is located on a public green space in a newly developed urban residential area. After completion, it will be used as the sale center for surrounding development. It will be repurposed to be a community art gallery for the public in the long term. For either of the purposes, the building is expected to become an iconic landmark of the area. Due to size constraint of the building area, and the fact that the site is an open public green space, we, from the perspective of urban design, view the building as a large installation in the public green space. Therefore, our scheme is designed to strengthen the contrast between the building and its surrounding green space.
A "Silver Cube" wrapped in anodized aluminum plates will be placed intrusively by the pond in the park. The cube will be cut in different directions according to the interior requirements. In sharp contrast with the silver exterior walls, the facade of the cuts will be made of dark colored glazed glass, which unfolds the internal space and projects it onto the surface of the building, prompting the visitors to explore its internal space from outside. The architecture will stand in the green park space in its abstract form and neutral posture to weaken its identity, and provide a container for activities, a container that can adapt to the passage of time and the change of its functions.
