Hotel Pavilion
Harmonizing elements of flow and stillness, openness and shelter, the pavilion features two misaligned curved glass walls that encapsulate a space balancing fluidity and stasis, openness and protection. Positioned as a lounge between the hotel and the outdoor lawn, the pavilion transforms into a small bar during lawn events. The challenge of uncertain visitor numbers led to the decision to create a covered semi-outdoor space rather than an enclosed one, allowing flexibility.
Notably, the pavilion relies on sun shading and natural ventilation, eschewing the use of air conditioning equipment to regulate internal temperatures. An interesting aspect is the repurposing of two different sizes of remaining curtain wall glass from the hotel's construction for the construction of the curved glass wall, adding an eco-friendly and resourceful dimension to the design.
