Exhibition hall in Art gallery

The proposed exhibition installation is customized for a joint exhibition of two painters. The concept “house in house” is to stimulate the audience to peek and explore the artworks, following the theme of the curation - discovery.

The two halls of the gallery, one square in shape, the other oval, are organized in respect of exhibiting the works of the two painters. In the square hall, a large number of small sketches are exhibited for the first time, which are confined into a small box located in the center of the hall, leaving the outside walls blank, with only a narrow gap for the visitors to enter the sculptural volume of the cube. The large scale of the exhibition hall and the small scale of the square box respectively correspond to the different distances required for viewing large paintings and smaller sketches. Inside the cube, the intricate layout of the sketches create a stunning visual impact, unveiling the vigorous intermediate working process of the painter, which is not familiar to the public.

In the oval hall, illustrated manuscripts of the other painter are presented to the public for the first time, arranged within a linear space in the center of the hall. The S-shaped wall panels avoid the overview of the whole space. The dramatic length and width proportion of the space, with an endless matrix of illustrated manuscripts covering the entire wall, present the exhaustive process of artistic creation and the atmosphere of an introspective working state.
