Headquarters of Zhejiang Energy Group CO. LTD

The concept is to create an open landmark, through the interplay of public green space and office buildings, to represent an innovative identity of an energy enterprise. The proposal abandons the classic façade design along the main street as the main gesture, instead, emphasizing its accessibility from all directions and its relationship with the surrounding area, in order to enhance people’s experience of the place.

The building and the public space are a pair of figure-ground elements, which cross each other diagonally; the building volume is compact and rigid, while the outdoor public space is vivid and flowing. The floorplan is regular and the vertical circulation core is evenly distributed to ensure the flexible division of the space by total of the group’s18 subsidiaries. Below the platform in the center is a shared conference center and dispatch center, which is of convenient distance for staff to reach. The public space above the platform is an energy-themed outdoor technology gallery that opens to the public, popularizing the knowledge of energy science and represents the company identity. This platform, together with the public green space in the southeast and northwest corners, creates an urban pedestrian exchange between the subway and the bus station.

“Buildings form the urban public space” – this concept of the project aims to blur the boundary between architectural design and urban design.
